Kimb works her magic again. MARCH IN AUGUST: The Jezabels, Isabella Manfredi (The Preatures) join the cause! MARCH IN AUGUST – THE JEZABELS TO PERFORM AS LOCAL ARTISTS ENDORSE THE CAUSE – LANIE LANE, ABBE MAY, ISABELLA MANFREDI (THE PREATURES) The next installment of the March Australia rallies happens on August 30th and 31st across more than 44 Australian cities and towns. The marches thus far have raised awareness and dialogue between all walks about the questionable decisions of the current government and the terrible impact they present to the most in need – and the lives of every day Australians. Policies have been blocked and the government on all sides is more aware than ever of what Australians want from their leaders – equality, accountability, transparency and equity. But this is no time to stop. As the saying goes: complacency is our worst enemy and the damage is still being done. Sydney four-piece The Jezabels (photo attached) who have been nominated for a staggering eight ARIAs, won Best Artist for the AIR Independent Music Awards, and the 2011 Australian Music Prize for their album ‘Prisoner’ are confirmed to perform an acoustic set to the Sydney crowd. Their second album ‘The Brink’ was produced by UK’s Dan Grech-Marguerat (Radiohead, Scissor Sisters, Lana Del Rey) and hit #2 on the AIR charts. The performance is sure to be an inspiring and uplifting moment at the rally. The Jezabels are not the only Sydney artists to come on board with the cause; numerous others have it endorsed it via memes and quotes - encouraging participation and self-education (see attached memes). Political apathy is not cool. If you aren’t happy with this government’s policies – stand up and march for your rights and for the rights of those who aren’t able to speak up for themselves.” – Abbe Maye. “I support humans and country, not the Abbott government, who continuously betray and undermine it’s citizens and environment in favour of economic gains and corporate approval.” – Lanie Lane. “The budget has failed. March in August against austerity measures and the zillion other things this government sucks at.” – Isabella Manfredi (The Preatures) As per previous rallies, the main areas of concern are: education, public services, environmental issues, human rights, the economy, political bias in the media and much more. Special guest speakers will be announced over the coming week. MARCH IN AUGUST – SYDNEY SUNDAY AUGUST 31ST 1PM – HYDE PARK - note change of location from previous marches (Belmore Park) - route will follow Market St, George St and Park St before returning to Hyde Park.
