Kinda puts things in perspective doesnt it? At first glance, this might not seem Pantheist related, but just hear me out. Even though this is a joke, i think theres a great message here. Look at these peoples faces, observe their reactions. Most civilized people do not want to see any harm come to a living animal. Most people eat meat, but when its presented like this, all of a sudden theres a great awareness and people react with outrage and concern. Our society is disconnected from the foods they eat, with everything already processed and packaged, we lose sight of the fact that what were eating was once a living being with feelings and a life of its own. When you leave it up to others to kill and prepare your food, theres no emotional connection, its just meat, etc. Modern society has distanced us from the natural world and our intrinsic feelings of compassion toward all life. I like this prank because it shows me that people still have that capacity. If we had to raise these pigs ourselves and then slaughter them, how many of us could remain detached and disconnected as we are now? Hunting/trapping/catching or raising your own food creates a natural appreciation and you develop much deeper feelings of gratitude, because you actually SEE the life that is being sacrificed for you and i think thats a very profound thing. How many of us would continue to eat meat if we had to do all the killing and preparing ourselves? I think at the very least, it would cause many of us to seriously question just how important meat really is to our diet and possibly choose much healthier alternatives. For these and other reasons, Ive been seriously thinking about going vegetarian. Any thoughts?
