King Jesus...He is Worthy! =============== •What question(s) would you like to ask God? •What question(s) would you like to ask the saints, like Noah, Jeremiah, Esther, Rahab, Jonah, Eve… yourself? •“Was/Is it worth it?” King Jesus...He is Worthy! =============== Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” Then I saw a Lamb… (Revelation 5:1-6a.) WHAT DOES THE SCROLL EXEMPLIFY? =============== . WHY IS THE LION/LAMB WORTHY TO OPEN THE SCROLL? =============== 1.Jesus is worthy because He was slaughtered. 5:9a: They sing a new song, “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain/slaughtered…” 2.Jesus is worthy because He redeemed us. 5:9b: “…and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.” 3.Jesus is worthy because He conquered 5:5: Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered.” Greek word, nikao, or nike. (See Romans 8:31-39) WHY IS THE LION/LAMB WORTHY TO OPEN THE SCROLL? =============== Romans 8:31-39 (NIV) --------------- What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. The Conclusion: =============== Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people. And they sang a new song, saying: …Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped. (Revelation 5:8b, 9a, 11-14) U see....y
