Kinsey -- Breaking news: Walgreens just announced its decision to keep its corporate headquarters in the USA -- rather than shifting overseas to Switzerland to avoid paying taxes. This is a major announcement, and it would not have been possible without strong grassroots support. More than 19,000 people signed our online petition urging Walgreens to keep their corporate headquarters in the United States -- and Walgreens heard our call. Last night, I spoke to the press about Walgreens impending decision. Heres a short video clip with some of the highlights: Watch the clip now. Walgreens made the right decision for its loyal customers and the future of its trusted brand. But make no mistake -- the same Wall Street wizards that pushed for inversion will continue to pressure American companies to renounce their American citizenship for a tax break. Thats why I introduced legislation last week that would ensure that no federal contracts would go to American companies who incorporate overseas. Its also why Elizabeth Warren, Jack Reed, and I have asked President Obama to sign an executive order making it more difficult for other companies to invert.
