Kiprop shooting for 1500 World Record in Monaco, note by Kevin Mangan Asbel Kiprop, one of the best middle distance runners of this generation will attempt to become the fastest 1500 runner of all time. This year at the Monaco Diamond League meet he will attempt to break the record of 3:26.00 set by Hicham El Guerrouj in Rome in 1998. Last year Kiprop became the fourth fastest 1500 runner ever with a 3:27.72 in Monaco in a race where Mo Farah seemed to steal most of the limelight by running 3:28.81. Only El Guerrouj, Bernard Lagat and former World Record holder Noureddine Morceli have run faster. With two World Championships and one Olympic gold medal, Kiprop has proven to be a smart racer who has a very impressive personal best. Im not sure if hell break 3:26.00, but I certainly think he has a great chance. As if Monaco wasnt already going to be amazing, now there might be a world record.
