Kiran Bedi, who joined the BJP some three/four days back, seems over-enthusiastic and behaving as if she has already become chief minister of Delhi despite the fact that the party is yet to announce her as chief ministerial face of Delhi. In politics, sometime you have to be assertive and sometimes you are required to be lenient and absorbing. Take for example Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Everybody knows how leaders like Mani Shanker Iyer, Owaisi brothers, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Nitish Kumar and many others hurled abuses on him but there was no reaction from him. His only objective was to exhort voters to vote for his party to give this country a strong government so that our country could march forward to become a strong and vibrant economy. Yesterday, she called Delhi BJP MPs on chai where perhaps two MPs did not turn up and Dr Harsh Vardhan reached quite late. If one goes by decorum, she had no authority to call them for a meeting as she has still not even been given the ticket for contesting the elections. This is a common knowledge that Kiran is honest, dedicated, assertive, hard working and a result-oriented person. But even if the BJP parliamentary Board that include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Party President Amit Shah and Home Minister Rajnath Singh decides to name her as chief ministerial candidate, she has no moral right to call a meeting of Delhi MPs. But as they say old habits die hard, to be over-assertive is in her blood. I remember when she was DCP north-west, she had come to Pitampura to interact with residents on the law and order situation in the area. During interaction, people complained of lack of civic amenities in their locality. She immediately called senior functionaries of various department including DDA, MCD, DTC etc and took commitments from them as to when essential services would be made available to the residents. Though her concern was only about law and order situation, but still she went a step ahead andcalled those officials despite the fact that those officials were not answerable to her. During her tenure as DCP traffic, one knows how Roshnara road and Gandhi Nagar where one finds it difficult to even walk, were cleared of trucks and other vehicles. Even when truck lobby called on Giani Zail Singh to request him to stop Kiran from doing so, Gianiji had also expressed his inability to do anything. To cut short, Kiran Bedi must keep in mind that she is no longer as IPS but a politician now.
