Kirk and crew were together for 25 years on screen over 3 seasons of TOS, 2 seasons of TAS, and 6 films. Picard and crew were together for 15 years on screen over 7 seasons of TNG and 4 films. In the opinion of you longtime fans, which cast had the best chemistry together at the end of their run? They each in their own right were a team of legends, both as characters and as actors/actresses. At the end of The Undiscovered Country, they get to sail off into the sun(set). I always feel like standing up (teary-eyed, of course) and saluting. At the end of Nemesis, Im left feeling like schools out and weve graduated, everyones split up, and Im gonna miss my friends who I will never see again. Sometimes that bond of friendship can be as strong, if not stronger, than family. I think the Kirk/Spock/McCoy trio also at times overshadowed the rest of the cast, whereas in TNG, it wasnt until later on that there was an overshadowing with the Picard/Data relationship becoming the core of the TNG films. For a long time before that, the TNG cast seemed to have more depth and the stories generally circled around all of the characters (but in fairness to TOS, they also had more TV time to explore everything). I like aspects about both casts, and I envy the Kirk/Spock/McCoy friendships. TOS had the heart, TNG had the soul, but at the end of the day, if I had to pick one to spend my time with...it would be TNG. I may be a little biased because I grew up on TNG, but I tried to think this one out. What about you?
