Im not from Yorkshire by birth and after 10 years up here could never yet be classed as a Yorkshire lass but I love the place and wouldnt want to live anywhere else. Id only been living here a few months when, because of the friendly people and gorgeous scenery I wrote this: If I wander here but for a while, It takes not much to make me smile. From the after you love, to the elderly friends, sharing their chips and their tales on a town centre bench. You can be stuck in a queue but will never bore, because theres always someone who will engage you in talk. Its the same down the pub, where you can go as but a few - but come closing time youll have met many new.... People wholl chat, or even give you advice, theres nowhere in this country where the folk are as nice! The scenery helps - a very picturesque place, where a walk to the brow of a hill can have you catching your breath. So I wake up each morning, and already liking the view, I feel that my day will be buoyed by a simple gesture or smile. This is enough to make me proudly say, that Up North in Yorkshire is the place that Ill stay. - I still feel the same today!
