Kishtwar on flames............ Today in the morning, a mob of thousands after offering their prayers in a mosque attacked Hindu houses and shops, looted them and burnt a no. of them. The latest reports that are available confirm that some 50 houses and shops of Hindus have been burnt and looted. Scores of Hindus have been injured while one person was killed by the attacking mob. It is alleged that that the senior minister of the J&K state played a spectators role when the mayhem was let loose in the town. A meeting of several organizations took place in the Jammu city at 6 pm.The meeting decided to give a call for bandh in the Jammu province for Saturday.The Kashmiri Pandit community was represented by Sh Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo and Sh.Opinder Koul, of Panun Kashmir.Later Panun Kashmir announced its full support to the bandh call and condemned the communal raid on Hindus in Kishtwar. A ‘Vishvi Hindu Parshad’ (VHP) team will be leaving for Kishtwar soon to take stalk of the situation there. The complete failure of the govt. to protect minority Hindus of J&K state is a BIG SHAME on secularism.
