Kitchen renovation day sixty-five and sixty-six: Had to take a couple days off (visiting family, etc.), but I did get the last window assy, and door and window frame pieces, stripped and sanded. Today, since my internet is back up, Im catching up on critiques and emails. Saturday we ran out of gas somewhere in nowhere land north of Stockton (yes, it was my fault), but it was interesting how we got back on the road. I had missed our turn onto Hwy 39, so if I hadnt wed have rolled to a stop farther on and it wouldve meant some hiking for me. As it was, just as we were coasting to a stop and pulled off the road, a guy showed up on a golf cart from across the way. It turned out he was coming up to spray weed killer on his neighbors driveway, which we were sitting squatting on. He went back to his place and returned with a gallon of gas that would get us into Stockton and a gas station. If I hadnt missed our turn, a 10 minute delay in the shade of trees wouldve turned into a major inconvenience. Hows that for coincidence? But then, Ive always been lucky that way, having coasted into gas stations out of gas and once with a broken rear axle.
