Kiwi I am looking to find a loving home for this very sweet - TopicsExpress

Kiwi I am looking to find a loving home for this very sweet senior female cat that we have taken in. We have been told Kiwi is approximately 14 years old. Her owner died in a car accident a couple of years ago. His daughter had taken care of her for a while, but her other younger animals were just too active and rough with Kiwi. We took her in about 2 years ago, but over time, our cats (19 & 6 yrs old) decided they needed to mark all over the house as their own territory, which I just could not tolerate. I have had to make a home for Kiwi in a large bathroom. She has everything she needs except the constant attention she really wants and deserves. She isnt fond of being carried, but she will follow you and come when called. Like most cats, she loves to lounge in the sunshine whenever she can, and loves to curl up in your lap.... and she isnt getting to do either of these things very often. She has a number of health issues although none are severe (her last vet check was just a few months ago). Her original owner accidentally put DOG flea medication on her as a young cat and so she has had rumpled fur, crinkled whiskers, and a mild wobble to her walk since then (probable mild neurologic damage from the dog flea drops). She is very itchy and scratches a lot, but she LOVES soaking in a warm bath ! She has some evidence of age-related vision loss, but she still can jump up on the bathroom sink just fine. She is up-to-date on her shots, but because of the neurologic damage, it was decided that she probably would not be able to tolerate any further shots or the anesthesia needed to be able to spay her. Since she is not spayed, there can absolutely not be any intact male cats in the home. She is good about her litter box, although she is picky and prefers that it be kept very clean. I feel it is just so unfair for Kiwi to be cut off from the family and the attention she craves so much. Ive been searching for a home for her where she could have full run of the home and be able just to lay in somebodys lap and just be loved on. She loves other cats as well as dogs of any size. She loves everybody she meets but she lives large-framed men, since they remind her of her original dad and of my husband, who has been taking care of her a lot of the time. Weve been taking care of Kiwi for two years now and Ive been trying to find her a better living situation for most of that time, it just seems like nobody wants to or has the room to take on this sweet senior cat.... do you ? (Interview, vet references, and home visit required.)
