Kiwi skipper praises Vanuatu keeper in 12 nil victory New Zealand Presidents XI women’s captain Aleesha Nana had a lot of praise for Vanuatu goalkeeper Roylani Apia for some brilliant saves in the lopsided match which the Kiwis won 12-0. “My player of the day was the goalkeeper. She made some great saves out there in the sun even saved a stroke,” said Nana of Apia in the first match on Day 6 of this Oceania Pacific Cup clash. “Roylani had an amazing game. I lost count about 15 or 16 saves she made. She also saved a stroke which is pretty special for anyone, for a goallie to save a stroke let alone against New Zealand. She put in an amazing performance couldn’t have asked more from the girls,” said Vanuatu coach Peter Robinson. Kiwi ace striker Tinesha Carey was the [ick of the bunch again as she scored four gaols, three in the first spell and one in the second. New Zealand scored six in the first half and another six in the second. “We came in with a fair bit to work on from yesterday’s game,” said Nana. New Zealand finishes at the top of the table and now faces Australia in Saturday’s OPC final for gold and silver. The Kiwis have a break tomorrow and plan to go on a tour and do some snorkelling and shopping. The Vanuatu side plays Samoa tomorrow for 5th and six and Robinson is expecting another tough go after they pipped Samoa yesterday.
