Kizhi is home and settling into life in Belleville. She flew into - TopicsExpress

Kizhi is home and settling into life in Belleville. She flew into Syracuse last night at 11:14 pm. We were on the road at midnight after some time spent playing, walking, hugging and kissing. She was a trooper cuddling with her grandma the whole way. Kizhi was phenomenal in her crate with no accidents even though she is a wee baby and it was a VERY long day. We got to Belleville at 3:30 am and we introduced her to Inca and Maya. They were very interested in each other. We managed to get into bed at 4 am and here Kizhi had a temper tantrum. Apparently it is against her rules to sleep in her crate. She would prefer to sleep in my arms. While she was making her wishes know, Maya couldnt take it and left and managed to fall down the stairs (thankfully just to the landing). I left to go rescue Maya and Kizhi then proceeded to try to scream the house down. I finally got everyone settled and most thankfully went to sleep. Maya woke us all up at 7 am. I was beyond dazed and stupid tired but managed to carry Kizhi in one arm and Maya in the other arm and get down the stairs without killing anyone. They had a good time playing outside. Kizhi is fascinated by Inca but Inca is polite but not really interested in Kizhi. I think that will change in time. We went back to bed for a couple of hours of resting but not really deep sleep. Maya had a rehab appointment so Kizhi went along to meet everyone. Then we visited our groomer Chris and Kizhi curled up in ball calm as anything while the dryers and clippers were running and with several big dogs bouncing around. We went home and tried to have some lunch. Kizhi HATES the x-pen. Apparently it is way worse than the crate. She made such a fuss that she was literally foaming at the mouth! It seemed to last forever but really was over in 20 min. when she finally settled and was quiet. She stayed in there for a few more minutes and then we went outside to play. Kizhi follows Inca everywhere. When Inca went crazy and started running at top speed in zoomies throughout the yard, Kizhi didnt know what to do so she went and sat down under Mayas belly as she stood there watching. We had a lovely nap and then went to visit Nana at Hastings Manor. She had lots of interesting experiences. She found out that wheelchairs arent that scary, nor or walkers. Oxygen tanks and masks arent anything to worry about either. She was so content to curl up in Nanas lap and give her kisses. I think Nana fell instantly in love. We had a little break and then we headed out to the agility field. Kizhi met lots of new people and then chilled in her crate - without any screaming! We are making progress. Afterward some nice people played the name game and then we did a few recalls. Finally we worked on get it and give. Once we got home, everyone went for a walk and while the beginning was a little crazy with tangled leashes, the ending was almost smooth and hassle free. I have one tired puppy right now. I desperately want a full night of sleep. We had an awesome first day together. I am so in love with this little girl already. Thank you Karin Benker for entrusting me with this little darling.
