Kneeling in prayer, I remembered my falling asleep thought, that - TopicsExpress

Kneeling in prayer, I remembered my falling asleep thought, that if jewels could sing, they would sound like the silvery songs of late summer night insects. Which opened my thoughts to realizing the peaceful sounds of my mornings, well, mornings that I have time to realize that music that God peace-afies my life with, and that I so ungratefully accept and often don’t even notice. This morning it’s the low hymn of my Corinthian wind chime (the only chime I would recommend), the music of singing summer insects, a low varied silvery sound. A rooster crowing, a hen who apparently has laid her egg early. The dripping of the night rain from tree branches. In years past (and very often since, as God has blessed me with sons and daughter in laws who have chosen to live near), the early morning “talking” of waking babies, or children who’ve risen early and are quietly playing. I think of the music of being with an old friend (oh, Holy God, thank You for old friends, who know you and still want to be with you), the shared talking and laughing and tears and just that soul communion that happens with some who come into your life. And thank You for newer friends, who keep life moving and refreshed, and add depths unsuspected. Soon, my day will turn into the chant of never ending chores and interaction with those God brings into my day. And that will be good, too, for my physical, emotional, and spiritual life. But right now it’s the quiet music of a quiet morning in my life. Thank You, Giver of Good Gifts.
