Knock-off time at CSR in Pyrmont, 1920s. The Colonial Sugar Refining Company Limited was founded in 1855 and moved to the Pyrmont peninsula in 1875. By the 1950s the site had expanded to 31 acres (12.5 hectares), with the main entrance on Bowman Street, opposite Jones Street. The CSR site included sugar refining, milling and distillery operations and a caneite factory. The refinery was closed in 1995 and the site was sold to Lend Lease the following year.
