Know India Programme, 2014: A video by participants (Ms. Wendy Ayassamy and Shri Melvin Poinoosawmy) The Know India Programme (KIP) is organized by the Ministry of Overseas Affairs (MOIA) since 2003. It provides a platform to the young (18-16 years) Indian diaspora across the world to visit India and learn about its cultural, economic, educational and historical facets and subsequently share their experiences with others. The 29th edition of KIP - Himachal Pradesh was held from 28th August, 2014 to 18th September 2014.Indian Diaspora living in France was represented by Ms. Wendy Ayassamy and Shri Melvin Poinoosawmy. The KIP started in Delhi where this selected group of young Indian Diaspora from various countries visited different institutions, museums, temples, schools and universities. They, then, were taken to the state of Himachal Pradesh, a Himalayan state with impressive cultural settings. The visit concluded with a trip to Agra, the city of Taj Mahal (one of the Seven Wonders of the World) In the words of the participants: “……L’heure de notre départ s’approchait et on est sous le choc et le charme de ce grand pays. Nous avons encore plein la tête les images, des sons, des odeurs et des émotions que nous n’oublierons jamais. Le paradoxe est qu’au moment de quitter l’Inde on avait l’impression de quitter de nouveau notre maison. En effet, cette culture est ancrée profondément en nous et c’était plus qu’un voyage. Nous ne pouvions pas rester insensibles à tous ces émotions. Nous souhaitions les partager à tous les jeunes de notre âge, car cette expérience de vie valait la peine….”
