Know Your Leaders: This is the resume of Lisa Fithian, a non-violent direct action trainer who is very famous in organizing circles. Shes been at it since the 70s and has worked for various groups. She trained and strategized many of the WTO protests. They are quite something and always have a big battle and minor arrests and some major arrests. As you may note, the banks have remained unscathed. Lisa worked in New Orleans at the Common Ground Collective with such notables as Brandon Darby, FBI informant. After Darby was outed, Lisa came forth and noted his extreme misogyny. After he was outed. This group of people who wear all Black at actions but are usually all white have a culture of putting up with very questionable behavior in silence because they dont want to destroy the movement. Lisa was a key trainer for direct action at Occupy and led thousands of people into arrest without giving them legal training or providing a legal strategy. She was also on the ground in Ferguson encouraging white people to get arrested. My true feeling is there is no real movement yet and as long as we rely on the usual suspects to organize and bring groups of bad people with questionable behavior to mix with the masses for social justice, we will only find despair and get setup. Learn from past mistakes. Dont be afraid to speak up if you see something creepy going on and reject these organizers that encourage mass arrests. It feeds a corrupt system we should be starving.
