Knowing that I worked at KBES-AM (formerly KFKF), and KBES-FM, a lot of peeps on this page have asked for some of my experiences while working there. Pictured below is a pre-func photo and advertisement which was in The Bellevue Journal-American in December 1972. During my show from 10a-3p, I drank an ounce and a half of whiskey per hour to test whether or not I would either slur on the air and/or not be able to use the control board (some slurring, but ran a tight control board). Yes, by 3p I was feeling good and told the BPD Officer: Hell yes, Ill drive home. I was in no shape to do so, and was driven home to the Commodore Apts on Bellevue Way, and guess what? The staff and I partied the night away. BTW, the event was held between Christmas and New Years Day to show the perils of drinking and driving. The WSP was also on hand to supervise; it was also sponsored by the Washington State Safety Council.
