Knowledge for Portrait Photographers. Portrait photographers, as it implies by the name, take photos of faces and this makes it absolutely necessary to them to have adequate knowledge of this part of the human body. The average portrait photographer knows about the light sources, contrast ratio, bells and whistles of his or her camera and some typical poses and light setups. But the good portrait photographer knows the anatomy and proportions of the face; he or she can draw at least basic sketches of the face and know where the chick bone, eye sockets is and so on. In such case the photographer could advise poses to accentuate certain mood to the photo or at least tweak some minor facial imperfections such as large nose or rounded faces by implying certain poses along with light setups. So it is highly recommended to portrait and fashion photographers to advance their knowledge in the area of human anatomy. It would be best if the photographer tries to improve his or her skills in drawing and sketching human figures as this provides him or her with deep rooted feeling of human being and its structure.
