Koziyat rog (The Goat Horn) (1972) Not entirely echt folk horror, but contains sufficient elements that might appeal. A Bulgarian drama about the corrosive futility of revenge set in beautiful landscapes, with endless summer birdsong. Some great ethnographic footage of Kukeri rites accompanied by wild bagpipe music endears this to me no end. For more info about these spring rites, Charles Fréger’s Wilder Mann book is a great resource. Although marred by duff subtitles (not that problematic as there is scant dialogue) this is well worth a watch.
