Kristi Haney Says I dont know if there is really an answer but at what point do you decide to tell strangers that your child is Autistic? I find myself struggling with this sometimes. Sometimes I dont say anything and just let them assume I am a bad parent or whatever. If they have ever had someone Autistic in their life or are more educated about it then sometimes they see it and will ask me if he is and it feels like a weight lifted. I think I am still getting used to the newness of it all. I remember when Autism was something that affected other families, not mine and when my son was developmentally delayed but we were sure he would catch up. I remember it was other families that had a special needs child, not ours. I wouldnt change it or change him for the world but it still feels like uncharted territory
