Kriston Couchey Making disciples is teaching people to walk - TopicsExpress

Kriston Couchey Making disciples is teaching people to walk apart from dependency upon men for answers, and to find the answers in intimate relationship with their Father. Truly the way of leadership in the kingdom is nothing like what exists now. So you can use the terms of mentor, teacher, etc. But they do not mean the same thing as they do in the kingdom. The kingdom points to Christ as shepherd, leader, adviser, etc. Current church structure has men on the throne of God in peoples lives. I have people desire for me to be their spiritual source as a mentor or teacher, but I cant do so or I have become God to them. The real issue is dependency. Its a matter of where your source is. True disciplers will not allow people to depend upon them for what is Gods right alone to be to them. When people ask me to disciple them the Spirit says NO! Its not that discipleship is bad, its that what people are looking for is not true discipleship, they dont want to be discipled in the context of the Kingdom, they want people to tell them what to do, they want a Moses who will hear God for them and relay the message. Now, we ARE a community of believers in whom God uses us all to encourage and take care of each other, for He uses others to be the hand of God and many times the voice witness of God to us as a means of strengthening. But this is done on an eye to eye relationship of mutual honor and submission to each other, both the mature and immature.
