Kudos, kudos, and more kudos to President Obama! Folks, we are - TopicsExpress

Kudos, kudos, and more kudos to President Obama! Folks, we are seeing something potentially big unfolding right in front of our eyes. First, lets be clear: the recent attack on Sony and related events constitute nothing less than theft, blackmail, and terrorist threats. Second, the President of the United States just explained that cowering to threats is not the American way. He is encouraging Americans to live freely, make the choices we want, and not allow cowardly, anonymous stalkers, hackers, and terrorists to dictate what we do. On this day, we have not only George Clooney defending property, we have President Obama trying to fuel individual courage and freedom in the face of threats. Whoever thought the cause of freedom might find such allies? How can we build upon this and form a new kind of coalition upon the ideas of property, freedom, and fearless opposition to threats of violence? Of the parts of his speech I have heard, linked below, I have not one word of disagreement. I agree with Mr. Obama. If I could add anything, itd only be some inspirational words that not only should free Americans go about their lives freely, they would be well advised to do so well-armed in the ways of a free and safe people who can defend themselves. Had this been the message to Americans following 9-11 and since, we would likely be living very differently. Had President Bush sounded more like President Obama sounded today, we might find ourselves going in a very different and better direction. Free people dont change their ways of life, give up their freedom, and create a police state around themselves merely because they are scared of threats and attacks by others. Rather, a fiercely independent and free people go about their lives as they choose, and they make the OTHERS who threaten or attack them change THEIR ways of life! What terrorists most want, more than anything, is to change the character of the American regime and make Americans change their ways. And they think they can do this through threats, occasional attacks, and other means of inciting terror. Should we give up our freedom in the name of fear and false security, they win, we lose. If we remain feisty, free, and ferocious toward all enemies who mean us harm, they lose, we win.
