Kudos to the Atherton Hough School, Atherton Hough PTO for a successful PL Polar Plunge, PL Polar Plunge 2015 in Houghs Neck. Thank you to Nancy Kelley Cross, Colleen Mitchell Ballerino, John Toler, Principal Moreira and the committee for putting this together. Not only did it raise funds for a good cause, it rallied the community as many spectators came to cheer on those who went in the 37degree water. Doing a Polar Plunge has been on my bucket list for awhile and I enjoyed the experience. A BIG Shout out to the Quincy Police Department Marine/Scuba Unit who volunteered their time today to make this event safe for the participants. Events like this are what makes the City of Quincy great! BUT many couldnt afford to operate if not for the generosity of QPD members who donate their time to serve as details, whether today, at the Chowdafest, road races, etc. I couldnt do my job without them and am grateful for their service. Thank you to Jim McCarthy,Friends Of Quincy Firefighters IAFF Local 792 and Engine 6 for serving as our paramedics. Thanks to Alex ( Kelli Galligan, Kara Kuntupis) for being my dive buddy, Alison Goyette McCarthy, no excuses, youre on for next year! Thanks to the media who covered the event: the Houghs Neck Community Council BULLETIN, The Patriot Ledger and of course Bob Bosworth and the The Quincy Sun.
