Kupwara remembers 27 January 1994 firing victims Srinagar, Jan 27 (KNS): In the memory of 27 January 1994 massacre of Kupwara, on the appeal of Hurriyat Chairman Syed Ali Geelani a complete shutdown was observed today in the town while as Tehreek-e-Hurriyat today organized special prayers in different Masjids and district office Kupwara and prayed for the peace to the departed souls.In a statement Geelani thanked the people of Kupwara for observing shutdown against the “brutal and cruel act of the Indian army and demanded impartial investigation into this massacre so that the involved persons are held strictly accountable.”“During the last 25 years in Jammu & Kashmir, Indian forces killed thousands of innocent people of the state but India is not showing any kind of interest in investigating these massacres, so it becomes the responsibility of the world community to come forward and discharge their duties in giving justice to the unarmed and innocent Kashmiris,” he said.A Hurriyat (G) spokesman said, “A special prayer meeting was today held at district office of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat which was led by district president Mohammad Yousuf Lone. The participants of the meeting prayed for the peace to the departed souls and expressed their sympathy with the families of the martyred persons.”
