Kuwait stops dependent visas for parents of expats: Kuwait stopped issuing dependent visas for parents of expatriates to bring them to the country, said Interior Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Nationality and Iqama Affairs Major General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah. This new rule is being executed with a view to balancing the demographic structure in the country, Minister said. The number of expat population in Kuwait has reached 2.5 million. Visit visas are available for those who wish to bring their fathers and mothers. Al-Jarrah also announced that there is a proposal to impose fees on visit and commercial visas. He clarified that the visit visas will be free for three months in a year after which fees will be imposed for any further visits, as the current law on visit visa can be easily manipulated. Iqama fee structure will be reviewed later, he said pointing to an increase in iqama fee after the implementation of visit visa fee increase.
