Kuzu zangpo,Jampa here with the GBS news.Firstly,the headlines: -Four day earthquake Training resistant construction ends in Bumthang. -Taliban attacked on Afghan HQ -Bhutan warned of impending climate change on hydropower Now,the details: -A four-day training on earthquake resistant construction concluded in Chhumig under Bumthang yesterday. The training was conducted at the Technical Training Institute. All Trainees and Staff of the TTI Chummig, Local craftsmen and Local Construction Engineers from Bumthang took part in the training. The training focused on the theoretical and practical knowledge on increasing resistance of buildings against earthquake. The trainings have been conducted in 11 dzongkhags till now. -A group of Taliban militants who attacked Afghanistans election commission headquarters has been killed, police say. Gunmen broke into a nearby building, disguised as women, and opened fire on the commission compound. Police said special forces killed four attackers, while the Interior Ministry put the number at five. Insurgents in the Afghan capital targeted a guest house for foreign aid workers on Friday. -The former Indian Foreign Secretary, Shyam Saran, said if the upcoming hydropower projects are impacted as a result of climate change, there will be an immediate impact on revenue generation. He was speaking during the Fifth “Friday Forum”, “Climate Change: why should Bhutan worry”. The forum was held yesterday at the Royal Institute for Governance and Strategic Studies in Phuentsholing. Shyam Sharan said Bhutan has to pay a lot of attention on the impact of climate change on the hydropower projects, if the country is to look at the viability of these projects currently and in the future.
