Kwashi unmoved by Harrison delay CAPS United assistant coach Fungai Kwashi insists the delay by CAPS United’s newly-appointed gaffer Mark Harrison in taking up his post is not an issue of great concern to the club. Harrison, who recently replaced Taurai Mangwiro as United coach, was expected to officially start his duties yesterday after being granted his work permit last week. The Briton is, however, still in South Africa, reportedly to take his family, having agreed a three-year deal with United. The Green Machine re-grouped this week at the Reserve Bank Sports Club in Mabelreign with Kwashi and fellow assistant coach Brenna Msiska taking charge of the proceedings. Harrison, who was recently in charge of South African second-tier side Black Leopards, is now expected to start work next week. “We are happy with how we have started our preparations for the up-coming season,” Kwashi told CUN yesterday. “The coach will be coming soon and just need to keep the ball rolling. He gave us the programme to work on whilst he is still away. That’s exactly what we are doing; put the guys in better shape so that by the time he comes they will be in a better shape. “I am in touch with him every day; so everything is under control and there is no need to worry about anything.” Kwashi, who has been plying his trade in Vietnam for the past eight years having started his football career at Makepekepe as a youngster, said he was pleased with the quality of players who are trying their luck at the former champions. “There is a lot of exciting talent here and we are just identifying players that we feel can make it at this club,” he said. “We have to give everyone a chance and it’s a bonus with many players, it brings competition. Things are taking shape. We are trying to get top quality players who can help us achieve our goals. Everything is fine in the team; we have also managed to retain some of the senior players from last season.”
