LA Filmmaker/ CalArts Alumni Zach Singer and a team of local art-makers are beginning production on Don’t Call Me Crazy, a documentary film advocating increased understanding, research, and support for those suffering from depression, bipolar, and other affective disorders. Singer’s company 3 And One Half Films is fiscally sponsored as a 501c3 non-profit through Media Alliance and is currently seeking interviewees and partner organizations. Interested parties should email media@3andonehalf. 15% of proceeds from the film will go to The Southern California Art Therapy Association. Told through footage of Singer’s life and career collected over the past decade, interviews with family, friends, other artists with affective disorders, and medical professionals, “Don’t Call Me Crazy” asks how societal understandings of mental disease can change to better support those who suffer from them and how. Nick Gomez of Walking Dead and Dexter will guide the viewer through Zach’s story as a doctor who himself falls victim to the effects of mental disease. https://vimeo/71451164
