#LA It was my pleasure to attend the Coalition for Responsible Community Development’s (CRCD) open house today at 10424 South Figueroa Street. The formerly blighted apartments were transformed into permanent supportive housing and were developed in partnership with Restore Neighborhoods Los Angeles. The project includes the development of 43 units of affordable housing over five properties in South Los Angeles (all were blighted and foreclosed properties). Four of the five sites are along the Figueroa Corridor. This project was specifically designed to reduce recidivism rates by providing formerly incarcerated individuals with stable housing which will help them better rebuild their lives and gain independence, and to assist those with chronic medical challenges to focus on their health and lessen their dependency on health facilities. Many thanks to Mark Wilson, CRCD Executive Director, Dr. Marvin Southard, Director of L.A. County Department of Mental Health, John Perfitt, Executive Director of Restore Neighborhoods L.A., Rushmore Cervantes with the L.A. Housing and Community Investment Department (HCID) and all who made these homes possible. Congrats to the residents on their new homes and new lives!
