LABOR DAY is the holiday to honor the hard working men and woman - TopicsExpress

LABOR DAY is the holiday to honor the hard working men and woman of our country that has set America apart from the rest of the world over the last few hundred years. There is no place that exemplifies the hard work of workers and risk taking entrepreneurial spirit of Americans more than Texas. Texas is now a trillion dollar economy. If we were a country we would be the 12th largest in the world. We are one place behind Canada and one place ahead of Australia. Since the downturn in 2009, when Texas lost about 300,000 jobs, we have replaced all of those jobs and added another 900,000 in the last 5 years. In comparison only two other of the nations 10 most populated, New York and California, have replaced all the jobs lost in the downturn and added jobs. Texas outpaces second place New York by over 800,000 new jobs - NY has created about 90,000. We are a leader in oil and gas, medical research, world renown hospitals, aerospace, banking, insurance, computer technology, and home to more fortune 500 companies than most states in America combined. We are a leader in exports and home to some of the largest ports in the U.S. At the heart of our economy are the women and men who have built small businesses - the backbone of our economy. As a pro business conservative, and small businessman myself, who has been endorsed by almost every major business group in the state, I know that it IS NOT government that creates jobs. The private sector creates jobs. As Lt Governor my job is to keep regulation light, protect tort reform, and dramatically reform and reduce. I would like to end it totally. In short government needs to get out of the way and let business grow our economy and grow jobs. If only Washington and the Democrats understood that the private sector is the key to a strong country, not higher taxes, the EPA, Obamacare, and burdensome regulations. So on this Labor Day I salute you the hard working men and woman of Texas who have made our state the envy of the country and the envy of the world. Now you know why 1200 people a day are moving here, countless big and small businesses, and those who believe Texas is one of the few remaining places to live the American Dream
