*****LADIES THROUGH TO JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL***** Last night saw the ladies take on Aughlisnafin in the Semi Final of the Junior championship in the RGU. Bright started of well getting the first score on the board in the form of a point from Jenny Fitzsimons. Not content with just the point she then soon followed this up with 2 superb goals. The Fin soon started to fight back coming at the Bright defence with wave after wave of attack which resulted in a few points, only the lack of accuracy in their shooting stopping them from catching up with Bright but their hunger for more finally bore fruit when they managed to find the back of the net to get themselves back in the game. unfortunately for the Fin they had a girl sin binned which left them with 14 just before the end of the first half. Brights earlier dominance had wilted slightly and after the fins come back the score at half time was 2-3 to 1-2. After their shaky end to the first half Bright upped their game and came out of the blocks at full speed. Again the first score of the half came from Jenny Fitzsimons in the form of yet another goal. With this boost of confidence and the extra player Bright went on the attack with point after point. With some fantastic defensive work from Leah Milligan and Michelle Lavery the Fin never managed another score on the second half and Bright ended the game runaway winners with a score line of 3-10 to 1-2 and with a place in the Junior Championship Final. Scorers; Jenny Fitzsimons 3-1 Sarah Venney 0-2, Frances Oconnor 0-2, Michelle Lavery 0-2, Aimee Tumelty 0-1 and Alisha Treacy 0-1. Brilliant result girls, and some great individual performances especially from Leah Milligan who stepped in at corner back in place of Clare Morgan. All your hard work and determination is paying of girls, you have done your club proud, just one final hurdle to overcome .......BRING ON THE FINAL!!!
