LAGOS ORGANISES ONE-DAY EFFECTIVE PUBLIC PROCUREMENT MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP FOR CEOs Lagos State Government has organized a one-day workshop on Effective Public Procurement Management for Chief Executive Officers of its parastatals. The workshop which was organized by the State Public Procurement Agency as part of the its mandate to train personnel and build state-wide institutional capacities for a sustainable and efficient public procurement system held on Wednesday, 16th of April, 2014 at the De-Renaissance Hotel, Ikeja. The General Manager of the State Procurement Agency, Engr. Akin Onimole stated that the agency is committed to providing technical and professional support needed by MDAs towards ensuring compliance with the Procurement law as well as play its role in post review audit. The Special Adviser, Parastatals Monitoring Office, Mr. Adebayo Salvador had earlier reiterated the need for Chief Executive Officers of Parastatals in the State to understand the nitty gritty and the due process to follow for the effective implementation of the Procurement law. Mr. Salvador reminded the participants that 2nd of April,2014 marked a turning point in the administration of contracts and awards in the State, being the cut-off date between the old system of the State tenders Board and the new Procurement system enshrined in the recent gazette of the Lagos State public Procurement Law. The Workshop was well attended by CEOs of Parastatals in the State and two presentations were made; Effective Public Procurement Management by Engr. Akin Onimole GM/CEO (PPA)and the Administrative Review/Compliant Procedures and Offences /Penalties by Ms Titi Shitta-Bey, Secretary/Legal Adviser (PPA).
