LALONG NEEDS MORE THAN A SYMPATHY VOTE. How does a person decide whom to vote for? This is indeed a riddle that is very hard to solve. Some think that an accident can give rise to a wave of sympathy that can make voters change their earlier decisions and cast the ballot in favor of the sufferer/ victim. This is termed as the sympathy vote. In this context, Lalong is termed as a sufferer or victim of accident in the instance perceived by the people of the Southern zone. Lalong has never been so loved in the political arena, at least not until things fell apart for the Southern zone in the just concluded PDP primaries. I didnt write this to debate on the issue of selfish interest as I have already done that in one of my write up on this platform This Nonsense must stop. However I wrote this in view of the total silence from Lalong in regards to his campaigns. Correct me if am wrong, but I feel Lalong is not serious. By this I mean he is not ready to challenge the PDP in the February elections. I have not heard of any of his programs if he is been elected, no workable campaign office, no Campaign committee, no campaign Jingle, absolutely nothing. At some point it seems the only gubernatorial candidate in Plateau is GNS. Or has Lalong decided to carry out his campaigns on the social media through his supporters who are mostly aggrieved PDP supporters? I think Lalong needs more than a sympathy vote if he intends to win this elections. I dont have anything against Lalong, but i think GNS is doing a more better job in terms of campaign than Lalong. At some point i even wonder if he (Lalong) is in the state as he has been very quite and you hardly hear his voice on radio or even see him on TV in regards to his campaigns. At best, Lalong has now become a ghost of himself in the state. Hon. Lalong should know that he has to do more than this to win because a sympathy vote will do him no good. I challenge his supporters who were hitherto mostly PDP supporters to pick up the challenge on issue base campaigns and even enlightened us on what Lalong intends to do differently and how he intends to do it rather than insulting Jang and accusing GNS whose only wrong doing is that he is berom. Lalong supporters can as well sponsor some jingles for him if he (Lalong) doesnt see that as necessary. Lalong will need more than the rejection of PDP stalwarts to win plateau state which had never left the PDP grip since 1999. He must begin to garner the support of the aggrieved PDP aspirants if at all they intend to defect to the APC. Even as the campaigns will determine who Plateau people will vote for in February, the emergence of Gen. Buhari as APCs presidential candidate would also do more harm than good to him as the state is known not to be a fertile ground for Buhari who has serially lost the state in all presdential elections. Jonathan who is expected to win plateau state may just be the joker needed by GNS at the elections. For Lalong to prove the PDP and plateau people wrong, he will need more than a sympathy vote, but untill then - Time will tell. KEFAS NUHU.
