LANZERAC READY TO RUN STAKES PRESENTED BY CTS The R2 million - TopicsExpress

LANZERAC READY TO RUN STAKES PRESENTED BY CTS The R2 million Lanzerac Ready to Run Stakes presented by Cape Thoroughbred Sales (CTS) will be one of three fiercely competitive feature races run on Saturday 22 November at Kenilworth and apart from the opportunity to watch great racing and enjoy fine hospitality the day will also offer a chance for the best dressed couple to win an all expenses paid trip to the world’s most famous thoroughbred event, the Investec Epsom Derby in the UK. The other big races on Ready To Run day are the Gr 2 Selangor Cup for three-year-olds and the weight for age Gr 2 Green Point Stakes, two important 1600m events that provide pointers to the big Gr 1 features of the Cape Summer Of Champions Season. An exquisite hospitality experience can be enjoyed on Lanzerac Ready To Run day in the Somerset Room at R250 per person and this includes a buffet lunch. To reserve a table contact Micaela: (021) 700 1600. The much anticipated best dressed couple’s competition applies to everybody on course. The winners will be flown to and from London in early June next year in economy class, courtesy of CTS. Their three nights of accommodation in London will be sponsored by Investec. They will enjoy their day at Epsom on June 6 2015 from a hospitality venue in the Duchess Stand, where the lucky lady of the partnership will have the opportunity to wear a bespoke hat designed and created by internationally acclaimed Cape Town milliner Jacqueline Kolbe. The Lanzerac Ready To Run Stakes, run over 1400m on the Kenilworth Old Course, couldn’t have had a more exciting inaugural race last year. The Brett Crawford-trained Captain America, a strapping colt by Captain Al, displayed a devastating turn of foot at the top of the straight under Glen Hatt before fetching the much touted odds-on favourite Red Ray to win by 1,25 lengths. Earlier Crawford and Hatt had won the Selangor Cup with the Dynasty colt De Kock, beating the mighty Legislate, who is currently the reigning Equus Horse Of The Year, while the Dean Kannemeyer-trained Silvano gelding Ice Machine had downed the like of King Of Pain, Beach Beauty and Capetown Noir to win the Green Point Stakes under Kevin Shea. The quality of horse appearing at this year’s meeting will be of world class standard once again and the races promise to be just as exciting. Adding much interest to the day will be the likely appearance of the most expensive horse ever bought at auction in South Africa, the Joey Ramsden-trained Brutal Force, in the Ready To Run Stakes. The full brother to Red Ray was initially bought by Markus Jooste for R1.5 million at last year’s CTS Premier Yearling Sale and was then put into the Durbanville Ready To Run Sale in order to qualify him for this year’s Ready To Run Stakes. Jooste then had to go R4.5 million to outbid Mike Azzie and Adriaan van Vuuren. Brutal Force finished a promising second on his recent debut over 1200m.
