LASSIE UPDATE – 6.6.13. What a difference a day makes! We are pleased to report that although Lassie is still listed in critical condition, her labs are slowly improving, and today she showed signs of gradually getting her swagger back! She smiled at her foster mommy during a morning visit, wagged her tail at her medical team, is standing more freely, and even went for a brief walk. Though lethargic, she has finally started to eat. While we are thrilled at the positive changes, we are also mindful that her kidney damage is permanent, she is approximately 8 years old, AND she is HW positive. She is FAR from out of the woods, and her condition could turn rapidly at any point. We hope that after another day at the hospital we can gradually transition her to the comfort of her foster home by this weekend, administer sub-q fluids, and re-check her levels on Monday. Even if Lassie has only a few months left, we want them to be filled with joy, unconditional love, and the comforts of home. We believe in her, and we know you do, too!
