LATE SUMMER UPDATE: 4 trips in the books for me thus far aboard the Energizer none of which have been offshore but that changes come this Monday with a wahoo/sailfish trip. Trust me no cuda has been safe the last few days. Yesterday we did managed a few mahis inshore and west of the slot cut to go with the limit of AJs and small kings. Even one gaffer picked off the squid chain. Most fishing this week has been 1/2 day or 3/4 day within site of the lighthouse or Indian Beach water tower. The few waterfront boats that have trekked offshore have scored on wahoo and sails. Brian has been hitting the commercial grouper arena pretty hard the last few days and some of you will be enjoying it in fine local restaurants. Tackle box tip of the month: I really like the action (bills & meat) this season attacking the Squidnation chain, the deep blue/clear outer shell squids pulled from riggers. The green water mahi attack on said chain in plain view of the freakin lighthouse yesterday, with an east wind, was totally unexpected. Finally... August has arrived and bow season but five weeks away. Looking forward to hanging out at the Tarboro farm for some headbone action. Lots of timber adjacent my place has been logged out and the critter hopefully have trespassed to my kingdom. Its Friday and I have the weekend off! It could possibly get ugly tonight in Atlantic Beach/ downtown MHC especially since I have a new going out shirt. Same flops just a new shirt. October Runoff bookings are looking good with nine days on the books and Im already stockpiling piano wire for the bloodbath. Its raining outside right now like no tomorrow with fire in the sky.
