LATECOMERS Id like to request feedback from our members on a problem which comes up once in a while at our events - latecomers. I believe that part of being respectful to our fellow members involves arriving on time to the events but at the same time I know that public transit, traffic problems and other kinds of situations can arise without warning. Since I am a big fan of policies and procedures I would like to ask for your input on this issue and Ill be taking steps to make the appropriate changes for the upcoming events. For our facilitators: There were two events which took place over the last few weeks where the facilitator was very late. In order to reduce the impact of this I would like to suggest a policy to always have a backup facilitator for ALL of our events. Do you agree with this suggestion? For all other attendees (non-facilitators), do you believe that there should be a maximum time to wait for people to show up? The main problem is that many people have complained that they have to keep restarting the conversation (and losing momentum) when latecomers arrive. I realize that some discussion groups have less rules (and structure) than Philosophy Dinners but I also know that many of our members appreciate the rules and the structure. I welcome your thoughts. I do my best to ask our members to arrive on time in videos such as this one but I dont think this is enough: https://youtube/watch?v=76MlPl2IiEA (By the way, Im still in the process of creating the discussion notes and scheduling the dates for this upcoming event so I appreciate your patience).
