LATEST AD IN GLOBAL CAMPAIGN BY RABBI SHMULEY’S THIS WORLD TARGETING WILLIAM SCHABAS, HEAD OF UN GAZA COMMISSION, AS TOADIE OF IRAN REJECTED BY BRITISH NEWSPAPERS *** TIMES OF LONDON, THE GUARDIAN, BOTH TURN DOWN AD THAT IS PART OF ONGOING GLOBAL CAMPAIGN TO DEFEND ISRAEL NEW YORK, NY (August 15, 2014) – Both The Times of London and The Guardian newspapers, published in Great Britain, have rejected the latest advertisement in an ongoing campaign organized by Rabbi Shmuley Boteach’s organization, This World: The Values Network, which seeks to disseminate universal Jewish values in politics, media, and culture as well as defend the State of Israel, that condemns the appointment of Canadian Professor William Schabas to head a United Nations commission to investigate Israel’s operations in Gaza. The ad further details the relationship between Schabas and former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has publicly declared on countless occasions his intention to “wipe Israel off the map.” A copy of the ad is available here: https://dropbox/sh/2uzuasy9wp6vzas/AABXF98dLoSuyPda54PPtJsoa “The United Nations is an international body and it should be accountable to the world. If the UN is allowed to initiate biased probes against Israel, we should be allowed to present Israel’s side of the story in the form of appropriate, thoughtful ads with well-sourced, factual citations as to why William Schabas, as a rabid critic of Israel, has been appointed to head this panel,” said Rabbi Shmuley. “The most prestigious papers in the United States – the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Wall Street Journal – are all publishing the ad, but in England, they are practicing censorship against supporters of Israel. One cannot help but also wonder, why was our money good enough last week when The Guardian published a similar ad of ours? Did the Times of London and The Guardian succumb to pressure from somewhere?” The ad that was rejected by The Guardian and the Times of London condemns the appointment of Canadian Professor William Schabas to head a United Nations commission to investigate Israel’s operations in Gaza. The ad further details the relationship between Schabas with former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has publicly declared on countless occasions his intention to “wipe Israel off the map.” The ad followed a similar full-page missive from Rabbi Shmuley and This World: The Values Network over the past few weeks featuring Nobel Peace Laureate Elie Wiesel that called on Hamas to stop using children as human shields in their genocidal war against Israel. The latest ad demands the United Nations remove Schabas and launch human rights investigations against organizations that brutalize innocent Arabs like the government of Syria, ISIS, and Hamas. The ad calls upon American taxpayers to protest their money being used to fund bogus human rights commissions headed by toadies of Iran with the sole intention of demonizing Israel. “Schabas is a defender of Iran and its genocidal former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, participating in conferences in Tehran with organizations tied to the fundamentalist, anti-Semitic regime in Iran that demands the annihilation of Israel,” said Rabbi Shmuley, in the ad. “The UN’s appointment of Schabas is just the most recent symptom of the organization’s well-documented anti-Israel bias.” The ad goes on to claim: “The UN Gaza commission is a kangaroo court with the sole purpose of demonizing Israel. Schabas frequently says “Israel gets off light” at the UN and claims that Hamas – the genocidal, anti-Semitic tyrant of Gaza, which uses Palestinian children as human shields – is not a terrorist organization at all. In fact, Schabas refuses to say whether he will investigate Hamas’ actions at all.” Rabbi Shmuley said, “The days of biased “human rights” activists maligning Israel with impunity are over. We will aggressively counter all hypocritical individuals and organizations who turn a blind eye to real human tragedy to focus instead on attacking the democratic Jewish state.” ABOUT RABBI SHMULEY Rabbi Shmuley Boteach is an American Orthodox Rabbi, author, TV host and public speaker.
