LATEST UPDATE : Activists from ROL accompanied Nathan and Suba to get a second opinion. a)The 1st foreman had reverted that an overhaul is required and estimated the repair costs to be RM4500, with a condition that for the lorry to be towed and placed at the workshop, RM2500 would be required as deposit with a week of repairs. b) The second foreman came by and suggested a possibility of a new engine and a change of the crankshaft after a turn or two with a spanner and estimated the repair costs to be RM6500 inclusive of workmanship with a week of repairs. c) There were really good folks around and they tried to help by suggesting another workshop at the Pekeliling area. The few of us decided to extend our search for another opinion. As the lorry is located in Chow Kit, towing it out of the area and farther away would not be viable in terms of costing with no fixed solution or estimate. 30 minutes ago, we were advised that at 3.30pm tomorrow, family members of an activist will go by to the location to take a look and advise on an estimated cost. We are aware that we need to manage expectations at this juncture. To all the angels out there, a heartfelt thank you for donating to help Nathan and Suba. Our current collection is RM1700.00. We hope to raise RM5000 in anticipation of possible costing to the repairs. We would keep you updated on the progress tomorrow. As of this evening, Nathan and Suba felt lost when they heard of a higher repair cost. They looked so helpless. A sincere request for help for this couple, we hope to receive further donations.
