LATEST UPDATE ON DAD: The family friend who is an independent health care giver visited Mom and Dad this afternoon. Lots (and I mean LOTS) of phone calls have gone back and forth between her; me; Mom; Brenda ... This morning, Mom told me that Dads left leg was wet. He has had edema for some time now; however, all tests and blood work have shown nothing (no diabetes; no heart failure) ... no specific reasons WHY this was happening. The legs and thighs are now so HUGE (and I mean, HUGE!) that they are hard and theres like an area around (my guess about 1/2 inch) that is soft and mushy. The legs constantly hurt him. The health care worker called me and said there is so much water on his left ankle/foot area that she could barely her a pulse. She said that this is very dangerous and feels he needs to be in the hospital ... we all agree, EXCEPT DAD! Of course, he wants to stay home ... we get that, but ... this is dangerous now. The doctors office could not get him in this afternoon because they are full ... and the wonderful ObamaCare will not allow the doctor to simply call the hospital and send him there ... WITHOUT first seeing him! THANKS A LOT MR. PRESIDENT! Anyway ... the health care worker had prayer with them and then went back to her house to get clothes so she can come back and stay the night with them. What a blessing! Dad said, Well, we used to watch her when she was little; now, shes taking care of us. After she left, he finally agreed to go to the ER (as his doctor suggested). I cannot see that they would send him back home; if they do, they havent seen the wrath of the BROCK daughters!!!!! Just now got a call from the health care worker ... they have gotten him to ER. All of us expect him to potentially go to a rehab facility once he is discharged from the hospital. My gut feel is that hell probably be in the hospital for 4-7 days; then, maybe 2-3 (at least) in Rehab. Brenda and I are planning to go up to their house this week and next to prepare foods that can be put in the freezer; do their laundry; etc. We may not have the medical experience, but we can certainly help in other areas. The health care worker will stay with Mom tonight. Please pray that Mom can finally get a complete nights rest. And, of course, pray for Dad! Pray for ANSWERS to WHY this is happening; wisdom to know how to treat whatever this is; and that Dad will cooperate with any recommendations. Again, THANK YOU! We have such a fantastic support system ...
