LAUNCHING PRE-EMPTIVE ATTACKS AGAINST GOD’S ENEMIES Tuesday, 13 Iyar, 5774 = Tuesday, May 13, 2014 “And don’t stop! Pursue your enemies, attack them from the rear and don’t let them reach their cities, for the Lord your God has given them into your hand” (Joshua 10:19) (NIV). The contentious nature of the second month demands that God’s people must deliberately launch pre-emptive spiritual attacks against the enemy at midnight. “A pre-emptive attack is always launched in an attempt to avert an ‘inevitable offensive’ by an enemy force. Its purpose is to gain a strategic advantage in the face of imminent danger.” It is dangerous not to anticipate the imminent danger posed by the enemy in the second month of Iyar. Remember that after a spiritual breakthrough, you must, as a matter of principle, expect a satanic counterattack. People and nations have always been under attack in the season of differences, contentions and oppositions, both internally and externally. We have seen that the first-ever battle the nation of Israel fought was a response to an unprovoked attack by the Amalekites. Israel was simply passing through to the Promised Land. They did not disturb the Amalekites; neither did they touch their farmland. Israel was simply passing through the land when the Jews were attacked. Exodus 17:8 says that “…Amalek came and fought with Israel in Rephidim.” It was in this context that Moses had to deal with an internal rebellion over the shortage of water. “And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst? And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, what shall I do unto this people? They are almost ready to stone me” (Exodus 17:3-4). The contentious nature of Iyar demands that we do not wait for the enemy to trouble us before we trouble him. 1. Anticipate the inevitable offensive of the enemy at midnight. 2. Gain a strategic advantage against him by not waiting for the enemy to fire the first shot. Every season of Iyar is a time of imminent danger. 3. Climb on your watchtower at midnight and deal with the enemy before the enemy deals with you. The best form of defence is always attack. 4. Don’t wait for the enemy to launch his missiles against you before he gets you. 5. Hit him before he hits you; fight him before he fights you. This is the modus operandi for the battles of Iyar! KEY PRAYER FOCUS 1. ASK GOD TO FRUSTRATE THE ACTIVITIES OF THE KINGDOMS OF DARKNESS. “Arise, O Lord, in your anger; Lift Yourself up because of the rage of my enemies; Rise up for me to the judgment you have commanded!” (Psalm 7:6). 2. EXECUTE GOD’S JUDGMENT OVER DEMONIC OPPOSITIONS IN FAMILIES, INDIVIDUALS AND NATIONS. “God is a just judge, and God is angry with the wicked every day” (Psalm 7:11).
