LAUSANNE, October 14, 2014 - After a rigorous selection process through tens of applications drawn from the AIPS affiliates in the five continents, AIPS and FINA are pleased to announce the shortlist of the Young Reporters who will take part in the Young Reporters programme set for November/December in Doha, Qatar. The 10 selected Young reporters for the sixth AIPS Young Reporters programme are: 1. Kausav Baruah- The Telegraph, India 2. Dominick Czakilew -Daily Mercury, Australia 3. Alan Vacaro- El Pais Digital,Uruguay, 4. Marcel Friederich sportbild.de/Magazine, Germany 5. Ruslan Medelbek- Alaman.kz, Kazakhastan 6. Pablo Martinez, de deportes de La Razón, Spain 7. Emilie Fredriksson, TT Newsagency, Sweden 8. Timothy Olubulu -People newspaper, Kenya 9. Li Xueying, China Sports Daily- China 10. Elena Sobol, ITAR- TASS sport, Russia The journalistic training and mentorship programme will be conducted during the third FINA World Aquatics Convention and 12th World FINA Swimming Championships (25m). The Young Reporters will cover the FINA Convention and the FINA extraordinary congress between November 29 - December 1, 2014 that will culminate with the 12th World FINA Swimming Championships, December 3-7, 2014. The reporters will enjoy an all expenses paid 10-day programme of workshops, training in print, photography, and online to new media reporting of live events throughout the Convention, Congress and the championships. “This is a very interesting and important project, which will allow 10 young journalists from the five continents to discover the FINA world. The media promotion and global exposure of the FINA events are of paramount importance for their success and I am sure that these media representatives will definitively appreciate Aquatics, its Stars and respective performances”, considered FINA President Dr. Julio C. Maglione. The training follows similar rewarding programmes that began in Shenzhen, China in 2011 that was organized together with FISU, 2012 in Azerbaijan during the FIFA U17 women’s world cup, in 2013 at the UEFA U21 tournament in Israel, the AIPS organized session in Lausanne and the FIFA U17 world cup in Dubai.
