LCA remain undefeated with 41-6 win over Unity Christian Brinkley, Browning both surpass 100 yards By Preston Towns | LOGANVILLE — To borrow a simile from Tina Turner, the Loganville Christian Academy football team just keeps “rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river” - this time rolling over Unity Christian School (Rome) 41-6 to extend their undefeated string to four. Two LCA backs - Jantsen Brinkley, with 134 yards, and Tyler Browning, who finished the night with a 102 yards - were responsible for more than half of the 426 rushing yards racked up by the Lions in this region outing. Trevor Callaway’s 69 yards and Nic Snowden’s 79 yards added to dominating offensive show. “Based on the film we saw, I thought we could be pretty successful in running the ball against Unity,” Lions head coach André King said. “We took what their defense gave us.” King added LCA’s offensive output “is a testament to our flexibility to be able to run when we need to or to pass when we need to. he boys played well tonight.” Sophomore Donovan Taitt spent more time signal calling than in any previous game. “That’s his package. It gives us a lot of flexibility to put good athletes in skill positions,” King said. The LCA scoring deluge began just five minutes into the game when Browning capped a 55-yard drive with a 10-yard scamper for paydirt. The point after was wide and LCA led 6-0. Four minutes later, Browning once again found his way to the end zone at the end of a 21-yard run. Snowden converted the two-point conversion attempt and LCA went up 14-0. Unity went three-and-out on their possession and a short punt gave LCA the ball on Unity’s 29-yard line. Brinkley ran it in from 4 yards out and the PAT was good by Callaway for a 21-0 lead. With three minutes left in the first half, Brinkley had another short run for a score, the PAT failed and LCA took a 27-0. Just before the half came to a close, Snowden found Mike Meme at the end of a 16-yard pass and, with the point after by Callaway, the score was 34-0. The LCA offensive machine amassed 368 yards - or about 70 percent of their total output - in the first 24 minutes of the game. In the third quarter, King got a lot of playing time for some of his younger players and Trevor Callaway took full advantage, scoring a rushing touchdown and an extra point to give the Lions a 41-0 margin. Unity finally did manage a score late in the third for the final score and a 41-6 win for LCA. Facing a short week, LCA next prepares for Creekside Christian and will host the McDonough team on Thursday night with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. on Hawkins Field.
