LEADERSHIP has failed us. How can Nigeria in todays modern age have a military that cannot operate at night? Our political and military leaders have failed us. Corruption has turned Africas one time largest army to a gattering of boyscout. Boko Haram cannot stand the Nigerian army I used to know. The army or military back in the days was filled with courageous and ready to for Nigeria men who if they where still serving would willingly volunteer to be drafted to the battalion that would engage Boko Haram. Corruption brought by politicians has put the military on the back foot. In this age where the quality of your military is assessed by the kind of sophisticated hardware it can boast of, where Soviet or Chinese hardware are regarded as obsolete. Nigeria can boast of even an armoured plated humvee with latest communication gadgets or even one M1 Abrahams Tank, which is the most sophisticated armoured tank ever built. The Nigerian military I am sure cannot boast of ordinary night vision goggle which should be standard in all operations llike this. Our Airforce is not left out of these corrupt mess. In todays world where we hear of stilt fighter jets that are undetected by radar, our aiforce still use Alfa jets which the British have long kept in their military museums. A world where F16 and F17 rule the air with lazer guided bombs and onboard camera to record impact. We cannot boast of Apache helicopters. Our flagship Navy carrier is a decommissioned US navy ship. Our navy cannot boast of a single submarine. Even if it would be one to watch the bottom of the Lagos Marina. I pity my country.
