LEAF By Oscar Connecticut is a terrific Connie made for Island Jim of Leaf and Bean in Pittsburgh,PA. Oscar is Oscar Valladares from Danli, Honduras home for many major manufacturers of fine cigars over the years. Rather than cello wrapped, all LEAF cigars are wrapped with a cigar leaf and the band is from the agave plant (yes thats where tequila comes from, lol) that tells you what is underneath. Its a unique concept and I hope others will pick it up, as its a great presentation and adds to the cigar mystique! This particular stick is for an any time of the day smoke - it is mild+ with a creaminess that finishes on the dry side of sweet. It started just a little tart, but went away after about the 1st 1/3rd. It has a hint of earthiness that makes you want to take another puff. Theres not a complex set of flavors, but certainly not flat or one dimensional. On the nose there were floral and a tiny hint of spice. Having visited that region, Id guess Jamastran Valley roots for the fillers and the rest of the flavor coming from the Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. Its a nice stick and one I can recommend.
