LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF NEW HAMPSHIRE SPONSORS FORUM ON AGRICULTURE The League of Women Voters of New Hampshire will hold a forum, “Food For Thought: Challenges and Opportunities Facing Farmers and Consumers in New Hampshire,” on Monday, November 18, 1-3:30, Horseshoe Pond Place, 26 Commercial Street in Concord. NH Department of Agriculture Commissioner Lorraine Merrill will give the keynote address. She will present an overview of agriculture in New Hampshire and current issues. A panel of experts will follow. University of New Hampshire Professor Estelle Hrabak will speak on GMOs. Representative Maureen Mann, prime sponsor of HB660, will speak about NH’s labeling bill. Roger Noonan, owner of Middle Branch Farm in New Boston and President of the New England Farmers Union will talk about the federal Food Safety and Modernization Act and its implications. Chuck Souther, owner of Apple Hill Farm in Concord will speak on the impact of federal regulations on the small farmer. The League of Women Voters is a grass-roots non-partisan organization that studies and acts on issues of important to citizens. Membership is open to men and women of all ages.
