LEARNING THE WORD (Ord Y2 W19 We - Ez 9:1-7; 10:18-22) In symbolic language the prophet Ezekiel describes the definitive fall of Jerusalem in 587 BC. Though in exile in faraway Babylon, Ezekiel sees how the wicked are executed and the just, with X marked on their foreheads, are spared. Then he watches as the glory of God accompanied by cherubim and sparkling wheels, departs from the temple of Jerusalem to settle in Babylon with the exiles. Although God metes out justice to the wicked and the righteous, He does not abandon His people in their desolation and suffering. I LEARN that in times of peace or war, in ones native land or in exile, in triumph or disaster, the glorious God of heavenly hosts is only a prayer away.
