LECTURE/DIALOGUE SERIES CONDUCTED BY RABBI MICHAEL PONT AND ALLAN SUGARMAN WINTER AND SPRING 2014 April 28 and May 12 at 7:30 PM On Monday March 10, 2014 we conducted our second of four in a series of critical subjects facing the Jewish community. We discussed Israel and the quest for peace with the Palestinians. It was an informative and emotional evening, and we thank everyone who participated. We can respectfully agree and disagree on various points related to each topic which is good for dialogue. We want to explore these complex issues with you, because we believe that a broad understanding of them enriches us as knowledgeable Jews in 2014. Furthermore, we see this initiative as a way to strengthen and to unite our Marlboro Jewish Center community. The next two sessions are: 1) Spirituality in the 21st Century of the American Jewish community. How do we pray? The centrality of monotheism and God in our lives and in our prayers will be explored. Can one be a Jew having doubts about the efficacy of the Bible and the tradition and customs of our grandparents 2] How big is the big tent of progressive Judaism? Who could/should be a member of a Conservative synagogue? Should non-Jewish spouses be called to the Torah? Who is a member of the tribe? We invite you and your friends to join us in the Sanctuary on select Mondays in April and May for these 90 minute sessions and look forward to seeing you in the Sanctuary. for all the sessions.
