LEESBURG POLICE CELEBRATES NATIONAL NIGHT OUT- AUGUST 6, 2013 On August 6, 2013 from 6 PM to 9 PM, the Leesburg Police Department will be participating in the 30th annual National Night Out sponsored event. This year’s National Night Out location is at Catoctin Elementary School, which is located at 311 Catoctin Circle, SW. Come and join forces with neighborhoods throughout Leesburg, VA in a fight against crime. This event is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by Leesburg Police Department and Target. There will be gifts to give away that were donated by Target, Best Buy, Kohl’s, and Chick-Fil-A which will be distributed at the site to children 15 years of age and younger, with parental consent. To be eligible for the gift drawing, children must complete a simple form that asks what phone numbers are used to contact the police. They also have to get two officer’s signatures before they can turn in the ticket for a raffle ticket. Winners will receive gift cards, merchandise, books, or coupons that were donated. The Leesburg Police Department will provide give a-ways and crime prevention tips as well. The Leesburg Police Department will be providing Domino’s pizza and Target will be providing snacks and drinks. The ROCK program will have their moon bounce for the kids. McGruff the Crime Dog will be handing out Junior Officer badges to the kids and the LPD Barrel Train will be at the event to provide rides for the kids. National Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. This is a day for all residents in neighborhoods throughout Leesburg and across the nation is asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police.
